Plunge Boldly into the Thick of Life (DSC_4767-2)
Life Between Our Plans
29th December 2007 by Don Iannone
Remember when you were ten
and thought at twenty-one
you’d be all grown up and perfectly happy?
Then, when you were thirteen
your father dropped dead of a heart attack
and your family all but fell apart.
Remember when you were twenty-one
and thought at forty
you’d have life all figured out?
Then, just as you finished college at twenty-two
you became pregnant with Jessica
and your plans to become a trial lawyer ended.
Remember when you were forty-five
all three kids were on their own, and you thought
you could launch a writing career?
Then, two days after your first book was accepted
your mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and
all your energy shifted to caring for her.
Remember when you were sixty-five
had published eight books, and you thought
Tom and you could finally relax and smell the roses?
Then, when you were sixty-seven
Tom died after a prolonged battle with cancer
and Jessica entered rehab for alcoholism.
Remember just yesterday, on your eighty-third birthday
you marveled at how life seems to happen
in between all the plans we make?
Nothing could be more true.
Note: Don Iannone is the author of two published poetry books. Stilling the Waters was published in 2005 by Medicine Wheel Publishing, and Walks in Life’s Sacred Garden, which was released in May 2007 by BookSurge (an Amazon.com company).

I very much like the idea of taking that leap into the shadows, that plunge into the unknown...

Restoring History (_DSC3998)
After an amazing 41 years and over 5.3 million cars, the Rover Mini finally ended production on the 4th of October 2000. The story does not end here however - A new "MINI" arrived to much fanfare and a new generation of fans - and the "Classic" Mini retains a HUGE following from its fans around the world. Long live the Mini! Mini World and Mini Resources are two links I can suggest to you guys to start your reading.
P/S: Why all the fuss about Mini, well I practically grew up in one. And please look as what it might have looked like before the restoration, a parody by a good friend CS Wong

Journey to the Heart, a poem (89800031)
Journey to the Heart
Wonderful, long-held secrets abound in your heart
They patiently await you
Open the door
Enter with honesty, and
trust whatever that honesty brings
Discover, unwrap
the many unopened presents
awaiting you at your heart’s door
Take them inside
Open them
Allow the love they contain to grow
Rediscover the many gifts of love
that have filled your heart
throughout your lifetime
Revel in their beauty
Live in their promise
that once a gift of love has been given
It is always with you
Love is what we all come back to
For some of us, it has taken longer
to realize that love is
what we really are
For some of us
our entire journey in life
has been about discovering the secrets
that lie buried deep in the cave of our hearts
It’s not a long journey, really
when you’re ready
The heart requires no reservations
to visit what it holds
Getting there can be as simple as
floating on a lotus blossom
on the still waters of your soul

A Seasoned Life (DSC_7949)
A Seasoned Life
by Hazelmarie Elliott
June 16,1951, Columbus, Ohio
I've sang on springtime's sweetest morning,
enjoyed the whispering of summer's breeze,
danced upon a new day's dawning,
frolicked in the twilight's eve.
I've felt the sun upon my shoulders,
laughed, when raindrops touched my brow,
felt the tide of sea surround me,
slept beneath the oakened bough.
I've felt time, and all its passing,
known life's passion, and known its pain,
realized each season's ending,
suffered losses, and relished gain.
I've felt the warmth of kisses glowing,
saw the light of love within,
shared the dreams of youthful yearning,
yearned for my youth, to live again.
I've felt sadness, in shadow's falling,
cried bitter tears as twilight fell,
felt life's joy, and felt life's anguish,
lived days of heaven, lived days of hell.
I've sang on days of autumn's splendor,
fell beneath winter's frosty spell,
remembered now, with heart a'burning,
those seasons past.....I loved them well.
